Sini Qäkinen
Background
Sini is a birdfolk, more specifically an owlfolk, a relatively common variant of beastfolk with noticeably frail bones and lighter frames, which makes them much more fragile and easy to wound, but allows them to be incredibly dexterous. Owlfolks also specifically tend to be solitary beastfolk, but she takes this to the absolute extreme, having such crippling social anxiety that she can’t even make eye contact without crumpling, or suffer panic attacks within crowds.
Powers
Due to this awful weakness up close, Sini tends to stick far away as a crossbow sharpshooter, gaining quite the skill at shooting targets from incredible distances. This innate skill with the crossbow combined with her enchanted magic arrows, and innate social anxiety make her incredibly dangerous, and she is said to have one of the highest kill counts among all knights, ranking in the triple digits.
Being an enchanting mage, Sini has the ability to pool her own magic into any item she wishes in order to create magical weapons and tools. She uses this skill for example to create powerful ice-enchanted crossbow bolts that can freeze people and objects from long distances. Another talent of hers is the ability to cloak herself to the environment through enchanting as well. Though, as only a minor enchantment mage, her potential with creating enchantments is limited, and she could not be called a spellcaster. Still even being a minor enchantment mage, with her incredibly sharpshooting capabilities facing her is usually a death sentence even for some of the most experienced knights.
Trivia
- Sini really loves mead, and is at the moment trying to brew some herself, leaving a copious amount of mead bottles around her forest because of this. Since they don’t know her actual name, this is how the locals gave her the nickname of “Sima”, which means mead in Finnish.
- Her hooting is a way to claim and mark her territory, as well as a warning for others not to approach. Because her voice isn’t really threatening though, people tend not to be too afraid of her calls, which works to her advantage. Usually approaching Sima in any way is incredibly dangerous with her social anxiety trigger finger, but anyone entering her domain with some delicious mead to offer would have ground for some peaceful negotiations.
- Her diet is solely carnivorous, even regurgitating owl pellets after she finishes a meal, full of fur, teeth and bones.
